Leica IIIf ELC / 1952

This is a copy of the Leica IIIf ELC, red dial. Made in 1952, the serial number (which is a good catchy number here) indicates it is an ELC and that only 1000 of these were made. So, although I did not know so when i bought it, it is perhaps a "rare" and collectable" camera.

I bought it for a reasonable price on ebay. It is a beautiful camera and the lens looks in very clean and good condition. However, the body is not in the best condition and I find the viewfinder on it almost impossible to use (it makes my Zorkis look like M3s!). Most of the photos I took with it and its first film were not good, however, these are passable. The quality of these is far better than those I got from my IIIc
http://www.pbase.com/nickdemarco/leica_iiic_1946). but not a spot on what I got from my first film in the M3 which was made only 3 years after this IIIf http://www.pbase.com/nickdemarco/leica_m3_1955).
